In 2026 the Madonna di Campiglio Christmas market runs in Piazza Brenta Alta from Saturday 5 December to Wednesday 6 January 2027, every day from 12:00 to 20:00, with free entry. It opens on the Immaculate Conception weekend: 8 December is a public holiday in Italy and this year falls on a Tuesday. In the same weeks there are Christmas markets in Pinzolo, in Val Rendena, in the hamlet of Quartinago in Cimego and in Rango.
The dates, times and locations on this page come from the Christmas events calendar of the Madonna di Campiglio tourist board and from the official website of the Rango markets. Outdoor events can change in very bad weather, so it is worth checking them again before you travel.

Carosello, the Christmas market of Cimego, takes place among the houses of the old hamlet of Quartinago, in the Valle del Chiese. Alongside the stalls there is music, lights and local food. The programme changes every day: on Saturday 5 December it includes blacksmith and basket-weaving demonstrations, nativity scenes in the small church of Sant'Antonio and guided tours of the Casa Museo Marascalchi, at €3 and free for under-14s.
In Rango, a hamlet of Bleggio Superiore, the stalls are set up inside the village's old farmhouses, in cellars and along narrow lanes, with food specialities and local crafts. Entry is free. It is also the first of the four to open, from mid-November.
Immaculate Conception weekend 2026: which Christmas markets are open
8 December, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, is a public holiday in Italy, and in 2026 it falls on a Tuesday. Many Italians turn it into a long weekend, from Saturday 5 to Tuesday 8 December.
All four Christmas markets in the area are open for the whole long weekend: Madonna di Campiglio, Pinzolo, Cimego and Rango. 5 December is also the opening day for both Madonna di Campiglio and Pinzolo.
The weeks from late November to 20 December are the most affordable of the season. The festive weeks, on the other hand, are the most in demand of the winter and need booking early, as the guide on when to visit Madonna di Campiglio explains month by month.

Nativity scenes and Christmas events in Val Rendena
In Spiazzo, in Val Rendena, the local Pro Loco organises "Abbraccio di luce" (Embrace of Light): from Saturday 12 December 2026 to Thursday 7 January 2027, local families and associations set up their nativity scenes along the village streets. Visiting is free with no booking needed, and the route is suitable for people with disabilities.
Over the holidays the same village hosts four more free events:
- St Lucy (Santa Lucia), Saturday 12 December at 16:30 in Piazza San Vigilio. In parts of northern Italy St Lucy brings sweets and gifts to children; here she arrives in the square with panettone, pandoro and hot drinks for everyone.
- Arrivano i Krampus, Monday 28 December: a children's workshop at 10:00, entertainment in the afternoon, food from 18:00 (paid) and the Krampus parade at 20:30. The Krampus are the devil figures of Alpine folklore who accompany St Nicholas.
- New Year torchlight walk, Friday 1 January at 21:00 from Piazza San Vigilio, past the nativity scenes set up on the fountains of the hamlets. For safety reasons torches are not given to under-14s.
- Befane in volo, Wednesday 6 January at 15:30 at the sports ground: the Befana, who brings sweets at Epiphany in Italian tradition, lands by paraglider and hands out sweets and hot drinks.
Madonna di Campiglio between Christmas and Epiphany
Between Christmas and Epiphany Campiglio is at its liveliest: the centre is full until late and restaurants run several sittings. Evenings are elegant, with piano bars, venues offering music and dinner, and après-ski both at the bottom of the slopes and up on the mountain.
On Wednesday 23 December, two days before Christmas, the Canalone Miramonti hosts the 3Tre, the night slalom of the Ski World Cup. Together with the Winter Marathon in January and the Habsburg Carnival in February, it is one of the big events of winter in Madonna di Campiglio.
